What Got You Started Jewelry Crafting?
I took a metalsmithing class when I was laid off from my job in the software industry in 2001. I definitely found my passion and have been making jewelry since then. I started my business in 2004.
Tell Us Something About You And Your Jewelry
I’ve been making silver jewelry for about 10 years now and and always excited about the new directions my work can take. I work in a custom built studio in my backyard. Every piece is fabricated by hand, by me in Austin, Texas.
What Is Your Source of Inspiration?
I am very inspired by textile and pattern design which I love bringing to metal through acid etching and roller printing. Other sources of inspiration are Japanese woodblock prints and anything that came out of the Art Nouveau period.
How and/or Where Do You Sell Your Jewelry?
I’ve sold through boutiques and galleries and on my own website for several years. Since having a child two years ago I have less time for making a production line, so I am focusing on one of a kind work that I sell at art shows. I’ve also opened an Etsy shop where I sell one of a kind and limited edition pieces.
What Kind Of Materials Are You Using?
I use mostly sterling silver, sometimes with gold and semiprecious stones.
Why Handmade Jewelry?
I love the challenges and possibilities involved in working with precious metal. I always feel like my creativity is endless in this medium.
