Graceful Jewelry By Era Art

I began making beaded jewelry in 1995 and progressed to more advanced jewelry making techniques as my desire to make other types of jewelry grew. I work from a studio in my home where I live with my husband in a beautiful country setting in the Pacific Northwest. I am self-taught and believe my most impressionable teachers have been some of the mistakes I’ve made.

What Kind Of Materials Are You Using?
Primarily fine and sterling silver metals, in addition to brass, bronze, gold and metal clay, stone, glass, and whenever possible, I like to incorporate vintage components bearing interest and character.

What Got You Started Jewelry Crafting?
Enjoyment of handcrafting things, and my desire to have jewelry I couldn’t find in stores.

How and/or Where Do You Sell Your Jewelry?
Last fall, I discontinued selling on my website and opened an Etsy shop, which is currently my only selling venue.

What Is Your Source of Inspiration?
Ornate designs and patterns, and jewelry and architectural aesthetics from the Byzantine, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods.

Why Handmade Jewelry?
I enjoy detail work. I love the reward that comes from making something with my hands. I like the individual expression jewelry allows, and the fact that you can change it anytime; it’s not permanent. Design possibilities are limitless.
I came to jewelry making, because I couldn’t find what I wanted in stores and in doing so, found I loved the craft. Now, I can’t imagine ‘not’ making jewelry.
