My name is Efrat Deutsch. For my jewelry I like to work with enamel, wax carving and hand fabrication to create contrast within my jewelry. My use of traditional handcrafted techniques to make contemporary designs translate into an array of organic, elegant and elaborate pieces.
What Kind Of Materials Are You Using?
For my work I use fine metals but also copper and brass, enamel, pearls, and gemstones.
What Got You Started Jewelry Crafting?
I’ve always been drawing and creating fashion designs for as long as I remember. Making things and experimenting with objects has always been a big part of my life.
I’ve was torn between going to study fashion design or art until I saw a goldsmith working on his bench through a window of a jewelry shop. I was mesmerized by what it takes to actually make a jewelry piece. It made me curious and I wanted to know more about the process. The best part was when I realized that making jewelry combined all the things I love; art, design, and the freedom to experiment.
How and/or Where Do You Sell Your Jewelry?
Right now my jewelry can be found mainly online at:

What Is Your Source of Inspiration?
My source of inspiration is mostly a dose of fantasy of far away places and views I wish to visit.
I am inspired by both nature and urban life and pay attention to the smallest details such as patterns and textures. I always carry a camera with me to capture anything from colorful flowers to rusted metal gates. When I start working on a piece, I get more ideas for the next project.
Why Handmade Jewelry?
In this fast paced world, it is hard to know the source of the piece, how the item came to your hand, and who and where are the people involved. For me, making handmade jewelry is a way to connect with the costumer who knows where the jewelry came from, who made it, how it came to being made. I provide photos of the process involved in making a piece of jewelry on my blog. Each item has a story behind it which adds a personal touch.
